Film & photography
This film is a multi-narrative short thriller about people getting more frustrated at the things happening around them.
I created the film as part of my Creative Media Production course where I have been developing my understanding of all aspects of film-making. I had a number of ideas I wanted to include in the film; such as giving each character and their scene a distinct style and look with different colour palettes, changing aspect ratios, distinct camera movements and shot composition.
I take my inspiration from eclectic sources and this film was mainly inspired by a short film called The Waiters. In addition the style and technique was a combination of watching scenes from the Safdi brothers Uncut Gems, Friedkin's The Exorcist, Leone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Villeneuve's Prisoners.
Lighting became the most important part of the production and it needed extra research and testing. Shooting at night and in dark rooms was a challenge though I was able to turn it into an advantage because I had complete control over the lighting. I’m pleased with the final film as I feel I achieved my ideas through planning, production and in post.
I created a range of storyboards for each of the characters so I could plan my shots.
The lighting was a really important aspect of this film and I achieved my results in camera and also in post. I was able to create the variety of shots for each character in post production and colour grade each one and also add sound effects where necessary.
